Hello, I have a computer running windows 7, 32 bit.I have an older hard-drive from a windows XP computer that I would like to recover some files from.The older hard drive is a windows xp dynamic disk.I connected the dynamic disk to my windows 7 computer via a USB cable.Problem: Windows 7 will not let me mount the dynamic disk unless I convert it to basic disk? If I convert it to a basic disk I will lose all the data.Question? How can I mount the USB dynamic disk onto a windows 7 computer without losing the data on the dynamic disk? Since around October, I have been accumulating failed updates. Prior to this, I almost never had a problem. Anyway, there are 26 updates that are failing to install. I have a Windows 7, 64bit. The updates are checked automatically by my computer, and I install the new ones regularly when I have them, but it's getting annoying to find the same number of updates, 26, are hanging up. I have tried the Windows troubleshooter, the one with the Fix-it dialog, to no avail. They just give some recovery disk when i bought it. Is it true? Running Windows 8 I am consistently getting these errors whenever I try to Update. I have tried various suggested solutions from these pages but none have resolved the problem. I am not behind a proxy, I do not use any 3rd party Anti-Virus or Firewall software, Internet Explorer and Windows Firewall are set to their defaults. Hi I can't figure out how to enable hyper-v on my laptop. I thought I should enable it using Programs &amp Features -&gt Windows Features... But it's not there Then I thought I needed to enable hardware visualization in BIOS, but couldn't find anything there either. I got an Acer Aspire S7 with a Intel Core i7 3517U CPU. I must be searching incorrectly, or something because I cannot find an answer.I am NOT looking to setup roaming profiles, or change the default profile. What I am trying to do is to keep or sync ALL user data from LAN PC's on a server share that is backed up daily, instead of having to back up each machine. It is hard for me to comprehend why this is so difficult with 7 and easy with XP.I can find articles that describe moving the "documents" folder, but what about "favorites" or "pictures" or any of the other users files that would be necessary to recover from a PC disk failure? I have a sinking feeling I am in big trouble. As administrator without pass code protection, I accidentally hit the lock button. The OS is Vista. I am not the only user, so I opened in safe mode and could not still get on. I logged on as husband, and it worked fine but I could not get on my account. If I try it doesn't let me. As husband, I cannot change anything. I have NO disks of any kind, as this computer was given to me from my sister, when STAPLES destroyed my last computer trying to remove a virus. She had brought this to &quotthe geeks&quot to clean it back to original, so they must have created the original disc and not given it to her. I hope that there is a resolve.
