I have several BRD data disks. In Win7 I can copy off the disk's without issue. In Win8 when I copy I get errors that it can't copy a file(or a few). Win asks to try again or skip. I click skip and it repeatedly tries again(Taking about 5 mins each pop). Eventually(after about an hour) it will skip the file. Again, win7 does not have issues copying and the file is not corrupt as it does copy the same file(that is correct) that win8 craps out on. This makes it impossible to use the backups in win8 and I must go to win7. The burned disks may have quality issues but, again, win7 gets the job done just fine. View the full article

FTM 2012 worked on my computer using Windows Vista for half a day. Have tried reloading the program but always comes up with the message &quotNET.Framework 4.0 missing&quot. I noticed yesterday someone else had the same problem though with 64xbit (I have 32xbit) but I just cannot find this message now. I now it had a solution for those with 32xbit. The program worked perfectly on my laptop using Windows 7 but is rather difficult to imput lots of information due to its size. Thank you. View this thread

I had causing my m/c to go slow. Is this for real. He then wanted to load a file on my m/c to help him have access to improve stuff. I stopped him at that point, he gave me his mobile number to call him back on!! He took me though the system log and showed all the errors I had accumulated on my PC, seemed ok until he took me to www,windowsupport.us and then to click on &quotShow my PC&quot which results in a request to load a file &quotShowMyPC3105.exe&quot which I declined. First, I have many files I do not want to lose, and am not a computer expert. As in many other such problems shown here, I am getting the black screen and "Windows not genuine" - this after a year of use, using what I believe to be genuine windows 7 Pro sealed copy. I called Microsoft last night and the person (foreign) told me that the key I had was only good for a year! Is that even possible? Next, I want to fix this the easiest way possible, and will pay for new key if necessary. What I don't want to do s to start a days long process that causes my existing data to be lost . Windows updated yesterday and since then Windows ive has not updated from my btinternet account. It does update from another btinternet account and from my hotmail account. After install - restart, shut down, hibernate, sleep would all cause the computer to crash, hard restart required. All attempts to restore from any previous points failed. Took hours of hang ups and restarts to access Windows Update history, or any other Windows Update apps, pages. After uninstall of package all is fine again. View this thread

I recently bough an Asus VivoTab Smart running windows 8 and everything was fine up until today when at some point the touch keyboard stopped disappearing whenever i needed to log in to the tablet! its annoying to have to find the on-screen keyboard and i would like to have the touch keyboard back. I have tried restarting many times and that does nothing, i have tried updating the driver but i cant as it says that it already has the driver up to date and that its running properly! My email account had been hacked so I changed the password. Now that the password is changed my Microsoft app wont show any messages in my email. It seems to be common knowledge (and hundreds of forum posts) that Windows 8 will not create automatic restore points - particularly prior to update installation. Is anyone at MS actively working on this issue or do we have the typical MS stonewall because either no one is paying attention or more probably because they do not know how to fix it? My solution for now is to recommend that nobody set their machine for automatic update installation but this is indeed a sorry state of affairs. View the full article

I am not interested in the 'Bing Desktop' in Windows Update I say hide but it never goes away and everytime I go back to update it says there is an optional update available, Bing! why can't I get rid of it like any other unwanted update?My update settings are: 'check for updates and allow me to choose....'Any ideas on how to stop being annoyed by this?
