I installed windows 8 pro 64 bits and have problem with sleep mode. System turns to sleep and when I press a key it turns on and freezes - doesn't turn on monitor. Then I press reset button on desktop and it finally wakes up. I've noticed that when I have no programs opened it wakes up properly. There is no problem with hibernate option - all is working as it should. What might be a problem? View the full article

I bought a hp with the windows 8 installed on it, it ran really good for a while until the latest update. Now every time i try to turn on the computer automaticaly get it self into a loop that never ends. I upgraded to Win 8 pro from win 7 HP (system builder cd) &amp win vista HP (acer laptop). Can i now reuse these keys on a new PC? The Windows 7 HP was used on my custom built PC. It was from a system builder CD i purchased from the builder shop, and i still have the CD. The windows vista HP came with my acer laptop. No OS CD. Now that i've upgraded the above two devices to windows 8 pro each with new product keys, can i now reuse either of the above two keys on a another, new PC? particularly the Windows 7 HP. Thank you. The system updates agreement is not displaying on my pc, and several updates will not load. Also the small &quotfixit&quot program option is no longer showing. At least this occasionaly worked. there are now a few critical updates that I cannot load. View this thread

Original title:remote access I have clean installed windows twice in the last 12 months and both times when I look in Computer Mangement&gtAllow remote access to your computer the box is ticked. The reason I do this is because I allowed remote access to someone and had so many problems after it that I had to reinstall windows. Does windows 7 installation need this box to be ticked. Currently have XP running on an older HP destop computer. I wish to get a (less older) Dell Inspirion desktop up &amp running. I am unable to perform any Windows updates on a Gateway desktop PC that was originally Vista, upgraded to Windows 7. I'm getting error codes 8024401C, 8024A000, and 800706BA. Already tried shutting off Windows Defender and Windows Firewall -- it helped -- sometimes listed 31 updates I need, but won't download ANY. It may help you to know a couple of things about this PC - It has an added NVidia video card - a GEForce 6200 (this has all current updates) After I installed Windows 8, I accidentally installed Norton 360 (before I realized it didn't run on Windows 8). I then uninstalled it, but who knows, maybe there are remnants of it left on the system. Also, there was an expired version of Norton on the PC when I installed Windows 8 which I also removed later. Windows 8 seems to be very unstable -- for example if I try to run Internet Explorer from the home screen from the "Charms" it ALWAYS CRASHES/RESTARTS THE PC. Yet if I run it from my old desktop -- it runs with no problem. Very strange..... I really need these Windows Updates. HELP!! View this thread
